Japan, Decoded is published by Coussinet Inc., a company based in Japan. It exists because a great deal of practical Japanese information — labelling standards, house rules, pricing conventions — is public but available only in Japanese.

How guides are researched

Each guide names the documents it relies on and carries a review date. Where a rule is voluntary rather than legal, the guide says so, because that distinction usually changes what a reader should do.

What this site does not do

It does not give legal, tax or investment advice, and it does not name specific products as counterfeit. It explains what a standard requires so that readers can check a claim themselves.
